La Coupole
La Coupole (1927–present), one of Montparnasse’s most iconic brasseries, functioned as a major social hub for artists, writers, and intellectuals throughout the 20th century. Known for its Art Deco interior and expansive dining hall, it attracted international avant-garde circles and remained a visible gathering place within the postwar Montparnasse milieu, reflecting the café culture and artistic exchange of the period. Artist Herbert Gentry and his friend, the painter Larry Potter, maintained an informal club there, using the space as a meeting place within expatriate artistic networks.
