Richard Seaver
Richard Seaver (1926–2009) was an American publisher, editor, and translator who spent several years in Paris in the early 1950s. Moving within the expatriate literary and artistic circles of the city, he later became an influential editor at Grove Press in New York, where he played a major role in introducing European avant-garde writers—including Samuel Beckett, Eugène Ionesco, and Jean Genet—to American audiences.
