Alberto Giacometti Studio
Giacometti’s tiny Montparnasse studio, which he occupied from 1926 to 1966, was a famously spartan “cave.” It had no running water, a dirt floor, dim lighting, and was filled with extreme clutter of plaster sculptures, paintings, and drawings.
Kelly met Giacometti at the 1952 exhibition Tendance and subsequently visited the studio, encountering the sculptor’s working environment firsthand.
