Barney Rosset
Barney Rosset (1922–2012) was an American publisher and editor, best known as the head of Grove Press. He played a significant role in publishing avant-garde literature, including works by Samuel Beckett and Henry Miller. Rosset moved to Paris in the late 1940s, where he became part of the expatriate milieu. He was married to Joan Mitchell from 1949 to 1952, joining her during her early Paris years at her first studio on Rue Galande (1948–1949), before the couple relocated to Le Lavandou in 1949.
