Kimber Smith
Kimber Smith (1922–1981) was an American painter associated with Abstract Expressionism. He moved to Paris in 1948, where he became part of the American expatriate art community and developed a painterly, gestural style. In France, Joan Mitchell continued her role as a central hostess to a circle of artists and poets she had first established in New York, which included Shirley Jaffe, Sam Francis, Paul Jenkins, Smith, and Norman Bluhm, among others.
