Max Ernst
Max Ernst (1891–1976) was a German painter, sculptor, and printmaker associated with Dada and Surrealism. After moving to Paris in 1922, he became one of the leading figures of the Surrealist movement, known for his experimental techniques such as frottage and collage. Following exile in the United States during the Second World War, Ernst returned to France in 1953, where he remained until his death.
